David Legasse’s experience and ‘can-do approach’ will help produce a better future for Pooler, but Dave needs your support and vote!

Owning a successful business in Pooler, many folks have come to know Dave as the “Salt Guy.” And that’s how he likes it when he’s in that role. However, when one decides to run for public office, the candidate’s experience and expertise should be front and center. So, here we go!

Dave’s early years:
Much to the surprise of many, Dave didn’t attend college or serve in the military (he couldn’t afford college and failed the draft’s medical exam.) Dave’s single mother had cancer several times, so for much of his youth, he was a foster child and, at times, homeless. Challenging, yes, but Dave would be the first to tell you that those challenges pushed him to succeed. He supported himself for much of his teenage years.

Soon after graduating from high school, through persistence, he landed a job at a daily newspaper in New Hampshire as an advertising salesperson. In addition to the newspaper job, he picked up a part-time job at a local radio station where his voice was used for radio commercials, and he was also the host of seasonal radio shows, all while he taught himself photography. That skill set resulted in assignments with the newspaper’s editorial department and other professional jobs.

At 21, Dave was recruited by the New London Day, a daily newspaper in Connecticut. After a two-year stint, Dave returned to New Hampshire to develop and launch an advertising/PR agency. His first client was a large agricultural implement company serving northern New England, then a local bank, and shortly after that, his young agency began to land significant clients, including the New Hampshire State Lottery. That was the start of an award-winning 45+ year career.

As a lifelong self-employed, award-winning marketing professional and consultant, Dave worked in boardrooms advising Fortune 500 organizations and the backrooms of small businesses, helping aspiring entrepreneurs launch their dreams. He introduced new brands, services, and products nationally and internationally for organizations, including agriculture, aviation, the US Department of Justice, higher education, medical and scientific technologies, international publishing, ski resorts and 2nd home developers, utilities, non-profit organizations, and other industries. During his career, he employed hundreds of aspiring professionals. With his encouragement and support, many launched their successful businesses.

Over the decades, Dave served on many boards and commissions. Dave has always been willing to share his wealth of expertise and experience with others, especially non-profits, fund-raising organizations, and organizations that benefit young people and others needing services the most. He also advocates for other small businesspeople by assisting them in launching their dreams and giving their products a platform in his shops.

Soon after launching the Salt Table in 2011, Dave and Carol Legasse began to receive awards and accolades for their unusual business model, proprietary salt and spice blends, and other products, as well as a commitment to prop up other small business owners and non-profit organizations.

In this photo, Dave and Carol accept their first of two “Flavor of Georgia” awards. The moment was shared with Governor Sonny Perdue and Agriculture Commissioner Gary Black. Within a couple of years, Dave became a member of the Georgia Grown Commodity Commission and later its chair.

As chair of the Georgia Grown Commodity Commission, Dave Legasse was a featured speaker and panelist at many events throughout the state. This photo was shot while Dave delivered an address at the Annual Georgia Grown Symposium held that year in Macon, Georgia.

On another occasion, Effingham Herald had this to say about Dave’s involvement in Georgia Grown. Click HERE
